Love Heanor

A group of young people from Heanor Gate Science College created a performance based on the theme of 'Love Heanor'. This was performed in the town centre at an event to increase footfall, raise community spirit and celebrate entrepreneurial talent. The young people who participated used their knowledge of the town to celebrate popular local landmarks and young people in Heanor.

Flash Mob for the 'Connect Five' event - Performing Arts students devised a 'flash mob' styledance performance, directed by Qdos Creates artist Nicole Guy for the 'Connect Five' event. A visual and energetic duet was performed to the soundtrack of 'Singing in the Rain' using umbrellas and cardboard boxes which were decorated to represent the Five Ways to Wellbeing.

The aim of the event was to promote and explore the Five Ways to Wellbeing with students, college staff, people from the local community and other health related organisations. The Five Ways to Wellbeing are a set of evidence-based actions that promote people's wellbeing, they are: Give, Connect, Take Notice, Keep Learning and Be Active.

'Real Talk' Student Conference - At the Real Talk student conference participants took part in a movement workshop where they created a short performance that explored the concept of difference within society. This enabled students to empathise with other people from different generations and backgrounds, it also encouraged them to think about their own role in society and what actions they could take to have a positive impact in their own lives and community.
