Judith House Women's Refuge

Judith House is a residential setting for women and their children fleeing domestic abuse that provides temporaryaccommodation, support and specialist services.

Qdos Creates have been delivering weekly workshops at Judith House Women's Refuge since 2009. We have delivered a wide variety of activities which includes music-making, singing, song writing, Yoga and Pilates. Sessions are designed to be inclusive and accessible for everyone and can be accessed at any level. Participants used past experiences to write original songs, this helped to improve literacy skills by writing in a creative way. The project also helped the women to articulate their feelings and emotions releasing tensions and anxieties and to look towards a positive future.

During the school holidays children also participated, these family sessions have included storytelling, dance, theatre and circus skills such as plate spinning, juggling and poi spinning. Workshops for children were delivered oudoors to give them an opportunity to play, provide social interaction and improve health and wellbeing.
