Women's Refuge

Work with residents at Judith House in Barnsley has been taking place since March 2009, weekly workshops and holiday projects are delivered for women and families at risk from domestic violence.

The sessions aim to improve mental and physical health and well-being, unlock creative potential, raise aspirations and increase personal motivation. Tensions caused by communal living and complex personal and social circumstances are diffused and a strong sense of group and individual identity is promoted and nurtured.

The sessions have worked very much around the interests and aspirations of the women and children involved. Through questionnaires and discussions the women identified the following areas which have guided much of the work undertaken throughout the year.
